RESTING IN THE LORD

The term rest is really a nice word to think on. I can only rest when everything is secure and I have a peace from within. Many of us like to do different things so that we can put ourselves in a place to get some rest. We have formed a temporary separation from the world, individuals, situations, worries, problems, dilemmas, and I could go on, but I don’t want to specifically name actual people, places, or things.

John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” As Jesus shared this with His disciples, this was a time He specifically shared the assurances of trusting in Him. His next contact with the public would be His arrest, His sentencing, and His crucifixion. To me, that could definitely cause some unrest. Enterprise Community Congregational Church wants to be a place where you can come as you are and be welcomed not matter what. God wants to be the foundation of you being rested.

Jesus said the greatest commandment was to love the Lord with all of your heart, mind, and spirit. We as a church are learning to do that. We are finding that because He is the source of all things, he provides a rested heart, mind, and spirit through Him.

God is awesome, Pastor John
